Objectives
The overall goal of the project was to provide information about queer topics; to increase knowledge in general; to raise awareness of challenges and hurdles faced by LGBTIQA+ people; to reduce prejudices and promote diversity and inclusion. This was achieved through the development and testing of workshop designs and specific exercises.
Specifically, employees had been addressed from the three professional fields of health, education and counselling. The background of this approach was the fact that these are areas that affect all people: Everyone must expect to need medical help at some point; every person is anchored in the education system and potentially every person needs counselling-support at least once during one’s life-time.
Conversely, this means that the employees of these three areas must be particularly informed and sensitized in dealing with LGBTIQA+ people if barriers are to be broken down and queer people’s trust in these professionals is to be strengthened.
